PF Definitive Covers in our live setup on Nord Stage 3
How a Sound Library Becomes Part of the Show
On the Nord Stage 3, PF Definitive Covers organizes 39 programs around specific moments within the songs. Intros, organs, Rhodes, leads, strings, splits, and layers become ready-made positions designed around what actually needs to happen during the performance.
For us, this means there’s less of a disconnect between the sound and the song: we just call up the right configuration and can immediately focus on the part we’re playing.
From Sound to Song
Shine On You Crazy Diamond clearly reflects this philosophy: the intro, lead, and Hammond are kept separate because they correspond to different moments in the arrangement.
In Breathe, Time, and Money, the samples are positioned across the keyboard while leaving the area dedicated to Rhodes and Wurlitzer free. High Hopes combines the intro, bell, and piano parts, while Echoes and Pigs use splits and controls to allow multiple roles to coexist within the same song.
The same approach continues with Comfortably Numb, Brain Damage, and Eclipse: each program follows the musical moment rather than forcing everything into a single setup.
On stage, it's all about the FLOW
The 39 programs cover 17 songs, but the real point is not the number itself: it is how they are organized. In our setup, we treat them as a compact technical setlist, arranged by song and by section.
Sample, Part Mix, the volume pedal, and the wah pedal thus become part of the performance. After checking the load, levels, and controls, the Nord Stage 3 can be used with a series of preset configurations.
The result is simple: less focus on changes in sound, more focus on the song’s atmosphere.
