16 Presets, One Concert Built Around the Setlist

With PF Covers, we bring part of our Pink Floyd repertoire directly to the Mac, using Apple MainStage 3 and Arturia V Collection. The 16 presets become clearly identifiable positions within the show, organised by song and integrated with the other instruments in our setup.

MainStage handles patch recalls and MIDI assignments, while Arturia’s virtual instruments provide the organs, synthesizers, pads and other sounds required for the arrangements.

From Dark Side to The Wall: Every Patch Has a Purpose

On the Run, Money, Breathe Intro & Time Accomp., Time Intro & Accomp. and Us and Them form the core of the section dedicated to The Dark Side of the Moon, with patches organised for accompaniment parts, intros and instrumental passages.

For The Wall, we use separate configurations for Comfortably Numb, Hey You, In the Flesh and Mother, along with dedicated patches for organ, choir and effects. Shine, Wish You Were Here, High Hopes and Take It Back complete a library that spans very different periods of the repertoire.

From the Mac to the Stage: The Concert Follows the Show

In our setup, MainStage becomes the operational centre of the keyboard rig. We organise the patches in setlist order and prepare MIDI controllers, keyboard zones and control assignments in advance, keeping transitions between songs immediate and seamless.

Before testing, we verify that each patch correctly calls the Arturia virtual instruments and any associated samples. We also check the levels, audio interface, and controller keyboard response, especially in tracks that require multiple functions during a single performance.

In Time, we prepare the transition between the intro and accompaniment sections; for The Wall, we keep the organ, choir and atmospheric elements separate. Changes are saved in the Concert after checking the sounds within the full band mix, ensuring continuity between sections and direct control throughout the live performance
