PF Cover EXP – Dark Side Edition in our live setup on the Yamaha MONTAGE / M

How a Sound Library Becomes Part of the Show

With The Dark Side of the Moon, we prefer to think of it as a single journey. The keyboards constantly switch roles, and each transition must feel natural.

PF Cover EXP – Dark Side Edition takes you on this journey through 14 performances, built using scenes, splits, layers, samples, and controls that are already tailored to the structure of the songs.

From Sound to Song

The library follows Breathe, On the Run, Time, The Great Gig in the Sky, Money, Any Colour You Like, Us and Them, Brain Damage ed Eclipse.

In Breathe, electric piano, guitar, and Hammond are distributed across Scenes, splits, and layers. On the Run, on the other hand, allows the sequence to be shaped with the Super Knob and Mod Wheel, keeping the synth alive and controllable throughout the performance.

Time is divided into four different Performances, following the actual changes in the arrangement between synth, Wurlitzer, choir, and Hammond. Great Gig, Money, and Us and Them also use Scenes and samples to make the more delicate transitions immediate and seamless.

On stage, it's all about the FLOW

On the MONTAGE / M, the Scene, Super Knob, Mod Wheel, and assigned keys become part of the performance itself.

When we approach Dark Side as a continuous suite, having the right sound is only part of the equation: what really matters is moving into the next song without breaking the atmosphere. That is why the Performances become almost like a map of the album across the keyboard.

Once it’s integrated into our rig, we can then adjust the levels, zones, and controls based on the band and how the parts are distributed among the different keyboards.

The result is that the moments when the instrument must shift roles are already prepared, leaving only the music and the performance on stage.
