PF Cover EXP Live Edition in our live setup on Nord Stage 4

How a Sound Library Becomes Part of the Show

The starting point isn't the album, but the stage.

PF Cover EXP Live Edition In fact, it was conceived with Pink Floyd's live performances in mind and, in particular, the kind of arrangements heard during the period of PULSE. For us, this means working not only on the sound, but also on the way that piece changes form when it is performed in front of an audience.

The 16 patches for the Nord Stage 4 are therefore designed to correspond to specific points in the setlist: some follow an entire song, while others follow a specific section of it.

From Sound to Song

Songs such as Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Comfortably Numb, Sorrow, Keep Talking, Learning to Fly, On the Turning Away, Any Colour You Like, Take It Back, What Do You Want from Me, and Run Like Hell are approached from their live-performance perspective, where layers, synths, and supporting parts take on a different weight and role compared with the studio versions.

Shine On uses multiple presets because the keyboard changes role throughout the performance. Keep Talking also separates the solo section, while Learning to Fly is structured across three different configurations.

This allows us to test each change as part of the performance itself: the preset isn’t simply “a sound,” but the exact point in the setlist where the keyboard must take on a new function.

On stage, it's all about the FLOW

On the Nord Stage 4, all of this works particularly well because the instrument maintains a very direct and intuitive approach.

The organ, piano, synth, and layers need to be accessible quickly, and when a patch is set up for a specific section, it almost becomes a milestone in the concert: you know where you are, what’s coming up, and what will happen next.

For us, the value of this box set lies in its simplicity. It doesn’t attempt to cover every moment of their discography, but instead focuses on a carefully curated selection of songs and their live versions.

In Breathe, Time, and Money, the samples are positioned across the keyboard while leaving the area dedicated to Rhodes and Wurlitzer free. High Hopes combines intro, bells, and piano, while Echoes and Pigs use splits and controls to allow multiple roles to coexist within the same song.
