Professional Profile

After ten years devoted to the piano, Tommaso Donato turned his attention definitively to the drums at the age of twenty, finding his primary form of expression in rhythm and groove.

Among the influences that have had the greatest impact on his career are the drum sounds of The Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd and the atmospheres of OK Computer and Kid A by Radiohead.

His early career saw him exploring new wave, electronic rock, and original compositions, performing at festivals from northern to southern Italy. He later delved deeper into the blues genre, building a long-standing live performance career and engaging in numerous collaborations.

Rhythm as Part of the Story

In Pink Floyd Infinity, Tommaso Donato brings a drumming approach based on listening, dynamics, and the ability to let the music breathe.

Pink Floyd's repertoire requires control, depth, and keen attention to shifts in atmosphere. The drums support the narrative without overwhelming it, contributing to the emotional tension and the flow of the show.

His experience spanning blues, rock, and more atmospheric sounds thus finds a natural place in the stage history of Pink Floyd Infinity.

ARTISTIC EXPERIENCE

After his early forays into electronic rock and new wave, Tommaso Donato founded the Blues Sensation Trio, a project through which he has built a long career as a concert performer and has collaborated extensively with artists in the blues scene.

The band participates in various festivals in central and southern Italy, even performing at the historic Rome Artists' Circle.

In 2017, the project was launched The Doors Celebration, originally called Easy Rider. Over the course of five years, the band performed hundreds of live shows in music clubs throughout southern Italy.

The early influences of Sigur Rós, Mogwai, and Radiohead, combined with the experience he gained in American blues, ultimately came together in the project that Tommaso had long had in mind.

In 2021, he founded the Syd Floyd Tribute, creating a project entirely dedicated to the music of Pink Floyd and continuing over the years to build the band around musicians united by the same passion and the desire to tackle a particularly complex repertoire.

It’s groove, dynamics, listening, and the ability to create a space where other instruments can breathe as well.

The experience gained across electronic rock, blues, and atmospheric music has helped shape an approach in which energy and control coexist, always in the service of the song.
