The Endless Floyd Anthology + PF Cover MKII in our live setup on the Korg M50
How a Sound Library Becomes Part of the Show
On the Korg M50, The Endless Floyd Anthology becomes part of our setup mainly through the Combinations. The Programs provide the core sound material, but it is within the Combi mode that organs, electric pianos, synths, pads, and layers truly become part of the live performance.
With 70 new Combinations and over 128 Programs, the bank becomes a map of the setlist: we recall the right configuration and let the keyboard follow the song, not the other way around.
From Sound to Song
The advantage for us is that we can work directly on the configurations we actually need for the show. We don’t have to search for each individual sound every time: we select the Combinations associated with the songs, arrange them according to the set list, and check how they transition into one another.
This is where the mixing console really comes into its own during a live performance. Levels, layers, the distribution of parts, and transitions are checked beforehand, so that on stage, the transition from one atmosphere to another remains natural.
The PF Cover MKII bonus also adds a second possible route. When a track is included in both collections, we can compare the configurations and choose the one that integrates best with the rest of our rig.
On stage, it's all about the FLOW
Before bringing a Combination to a concert, let’s check what really needs to stay on the M50, which layers are needed, and how much space the sound takes up in the mix.
Then comes the rehearsal with the band: that’s when we fine-tune the levels, frequencies, and transitions. Ultimately, you don’t need to know the entire library by heart; you need to know which Combination opens the song, which one comes next, and how the M50 should accompany that moment in the show.
When everything is set up properly, the booth stops feeling like a jumble of sounds and becomes part of the setlist.
