PF Cover Vol 2 for Fractal Axe FX III
How a Sound Library Becomes Part of the Show
PF Cover – Volume 2 its into our lineup as a natural extension of the first section. The 26 Scenes are built around four very different pieces: Another Brick in the Wall Part 2, Sorrow, Time and High Hopes.
On the Fractal Axe-Fx III, we use them as a true operational map, with section changes, boosts, dry states, and mute states already separated and ready to be adapted to our live setup.
From Sound to Song
Another Brick in the Wall Part 2 requires multiple gain, boost, and clean states; Sorrow alternates between intro, main solo, and drier sections; Time moves from crunch and chorus to the solo; while High Hopes introduces a dedicated steel guitar configuration.
The Tube Driver ON, VS9 Boost, Solo Boost, Rotary ON, Dry, and Mute Scenes are not simply variations: they allow us to control exactly what changes within the signal chain and adapt it to the actual band mix.
On stage, it's all about the FLOW
On the Fractal Axe-Fx III, we do not test the 26 Scenes as isolated sounds, but in the same order in which they will be recalled during the live show. It is the transition from one Scene to the next that tells us whether the bank truly works: levels, effect tails, delay continuity, and boost response all need to remain consistent as the song progresses.
In Another Brick in the Wall Part 2, we focus mainly on the transitions between clean, overdrive, and boost; in Sorrow, on the movement between the intro, clean sections, and solo; and in Time, on the progression from crunch and chorus through to the lead. High Hopes, on the other hand, requires a dedicated steel guitar flow, with Rotary, boost, and distorted tones ready to be recalled without interrupting the performance.
Scenes such as Dry, Mute, Tube Driver ON, VS9 Boost, and Solo Boost therefore serve a specific purpose: they allow us to make quick changes within the signal chain without having to switch presets or rebuild the sound. The result is a rig in which every control follows the structure of the song directly and remains easy to manage even during a live performance.
